Build your fixture setup

Select your specific R&R base plate then simply drag and snap components from the tabbed catalogs onto the plate into the desired positions.

All standard base plates and components are organized into convenient tabbed catalogs grouped by thread size.

Drag and snap

As components are moved out onto the base plate, IronCad’s SmartSnap® technology automatically aligns the component while indicating the hold position on the plate as well as the X, Y and Z coordinates.

TriBall movement

The TriBall is a feature within FixtureBuilder that allows for the quick manipulation of parts within the working environment.  Parts can be moved and rotated about the X,Y and Z axis with the left mouse button.

Mechanism mode

Mechanism mode allows you to manipulate fixturing components to move as they would in real life.  Simply click and drag on the adjustable part of the fixturing component.  It is commonly used for assigning clamps to a part and pushing adjustable slide bases into position.

Build It! button

Upon completion of the fixture if you click on the “Build It!” button an HTML document will be launched with build intructions, images of the fixture and a bill of materials. The document can then be printed or saved as a PDF depending on user neccessity.

Exporting the fixture

Exports of the fixture can be configured in a number of different formats which can then be used for offline programming.  It is also possible to export the fixture seperate to the part.

FixtureBuilder supports the most common CAD formats including IGES, SAT, STEP, PRO/E and CATIA which are also available as an add-on module.

Adjustable components

Eliminate or reduce the need for machining a precision component or detail with the use of R&R’s adjustable components for holding a part at a specific point or location.  No more waiting for a holding fixture to be made for inspection of your parts.

Minimum contact

Hold your parts with the minimum contact force necessary to avoid damage or distortion on a part, and gain as much clearance access possible on and around your part using your probe head.  Programming of the fixture is even easier with less obstructions.

Use minimum hand tools

By being able to hand tighten threaded components directly into the plate, very few hand tools are needed which can save valuable time.  It is just that easy…no instructions necessary.

Quick Load Corner (QLC)

Switch back and forth between multiple fixture plates using the Quick Load Corner (QLC) fixture.  Attach your plates into place with the QLC’s magnet/dowel pin combination engineered into every plate and corner fixture along with a comprehensive set of components for holding all sizes of parts for maximum viewing and probing accessibility around the part without covering up any critical features.  Inspect more parts in shorter lead times using either modular or custom fixturing plates.

Interchangeable Vision Fixture (IVF)

Using the entire measuring and viewing area of your vision stage, easily switch fixturing plates on and off the Interchangeable Vision Fixture (IVF) aluminum frame mounted to your vision system.  Fixture exchange can be accomplished in a matter of only seconds, eliminating down time and allowing continuous inspection and repeatability on your vision system.  Choose between a combination of modular or custom fixture plates to hold multiple parts at a time on your IVF.

Choosing modular labeled base plates and components for your QLC or IVF will enable any user to build consistent part setups providing easy identification and documentation, which is especially helpful when there are multiple users or a period of time between setups.  Document setups manually into your software or use FixtureBuilder, our 3D CAD fixture modeling software.

Our modular components are quick, easy to use and small enough to be arranged within a close circumference of one another to hold, locate and view even the smallest of parts on your QLC/IVF.  Choose from our M4 or 1/4-20 component kits or order seperately to accomodate your application.
